The Dare Workshop on Improvisation

We can only build on each other’s ideas when we’re open to emotional change—and our fear of failure makes us close up and block creativity. Improvisation can help by creating a safe space where we make a deal to say “yes”. In this full-day workshop we’ll learn how to bring improv techniques to our day jobs, and see immediate improvements in our work.

Learn to work together without a plan

Find out how you engage with other people at work.

  • Can you listen when you feel under pressure?
  • Do you know when your ego governs your choices?
  • Can you fight to win and still enjoy losing?

Learn techniques and procedures for creating new ideas

You’ll learn techniques that apply directly to your day job, and you’ll see an immediate improvement in your ability to work with people to create new ideas. You will:

  • participate in group improvisation exercises that will give you procedures you can apply to your day job;
  • watch an exclusive cameo appearance from keynote Dave Gray revealing the techniques he uses to find the courage to launch new things, to try, to fail, and then pick himself up and try again;
  • participate in a short improvised group performance in front of a supportive audience (you'll be amazed with what you produce).

It’s not your job to feel comfortable. It’s our job to make it possible for you to jump.

Our teachers are Tom Salinsky and Alex MacLaren from The Spontaneity Shop, an improvisation company based in London. Tom and Alex have trained hundreds of people from all backgrounds in improvisation, communication, and storytelling.
